I was told I would never be a nurse again. I was a LPN and was in the RN program with less than 2 semesters to go when I herniated the L5S1 disk and had to withdraw from the program to have my first surgery. After two surgeries and a year on Oxycontin, a friend of mine bragged how she was feeling great after back surgery. She had the same problem I had.
I took my MRI to Dr. Lestini, and he told me I would be nurse again. He explained that scar tissue was not my problem, but that the disc had moved and was on a nerve and my spine was bone to bone. This was not what my last doctor had told me. I was so happy! I was 36 years young and I was going to get my life back!
My surgery was six years ago. Dr. Lestini has given my husband his wife back and my children their mother back. In May of 2007, I completed the RN program from start to finish (again!). Dr. Lestini congratulated me on my RN - I thanked him for my career and my life!
